Full Description

The Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA), by cooperative agreement among the major water and wastewater agencies in southern Nevada, has responsibility for regional water resource issues in Clark County, including the Las Vegas Valley. As part of its current Capital Improvements Program (CIP) of major water supply works, SNWA will construct a new water treatment facility to serve the Las Vegas Valley. An ultimate capacity of 600 mgd is planned for the new River Mountains Water Treatment Facility (RMWTF); the initial phase will be 150 mgd. The facility has been advanced through final design with extensive use of state-of-the-art CAE three dimensional design techniques, a dedicated file server to link remote design centers, and a project specific intranet site that links team members throughout several locations. This paper will demonstrate how these tools have been effectively combined to produce a project design that is cost effective, technically exceptional, and incorporates unique public and operational input.
