Full Description

Due to the unique topography of New Orleans, Louisiana, many sewer, water anddrainage assets are below sea level. Similar to other large agencies, theSewerage and Water Board of New Orleans faced maintenance challenges includingwork order tracking, prioritization of repairs, lack of a comprehensive costaccounting system and the deterioration of old records. In 1990, the Boardinitiated a project for the development of a Computer Aided Support System forPublic Works Infrastructure (CASS WORKS). CASS WORKS was customized to meet thedata processing and software standards of the Board and its regional geographicinformation system (GIS) efforts. This presentation summarizes the projectapproach used by the Board and RJN Group, Inc.
