The web browser environment can be usedto bring a variety of information systems together and allow staff to get theinformation they need to do their jobs. Easily handled file formats such as HTMLand PDF make it much easier to place information online and provide immediateaccessibility to others. However, successfully implementing web-based informationsystems requires a shift in thinking about how information is accessed especiallysince technology is quickly moving into the user-defined web browser arena. Thatis, each individual will be able to select and filter specific information andhave it sent to their web browser page on a regular basis. This paper discussesvarious aspects of web-based information management including software selectionand document conversion issues.
