Full Description

Currently Water Treatment Plant (WTP) #9 operates near the 13.45 mgd permitted capacity on a consistent basis due to increasing demands from the rapidly developing south-central and southwest areas of Palm Beach County. Several of the treatment structures and major equipment items are approaching the end of their service life and/or require upgrading to meet existing expectations of performance, safety, redundancy, and reliability. In addition it was recognized that the existing treatment processes and equipment would probably not allow compliance with existing trihalomethane (THM4) standards or future State 1/Stage 2 Disinfectants/Disinfection Byproducts Rule standards under disinfection practices meeting current Ten States Standards, a future Groundwater Disinfection Rule, the existing Surface Water Treatment Rule, or a future Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule. This paper discusses the engineering services related to the preliminary design, final design, bidding and special services for a new 22.84 million gallon a day finished water capacity, membrane treatment facility at WTP #9.
