Hydraulic engineers have known for decades that flow distortion devices such as tees, elbows and pressure reducing valves can affect the overall accuracy and long term performance of a water meter. However, a key contributor to loss in meter accuracy over time is frictional wear on specific components in the meter's measuring element.
