Full Description

This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of perchlorate, nitrate, treatment technologies and phosphorus. Study objective was to determine how phosphorus addition may change thestructure and function of microbial communities inbiofilm reactors. Real-time PCR is presented and study conclusions indicate that: the properly controlled addition of phosphorus can promotebeneficial microbial activities in biofilm reactors;the impacts of phosphorus addition depend on thechemical and microbial composition of the respectiveinfluents; and, changes in the relative abundance of microbialpopulations due to phosphorus addition can beinstantaneous.
