This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department (PCRWRD). In 2006, there were no POTW security/vulnerability mandates,all sites functioned with open access emphasis andfunding for security competed with POTWregulatory mandates.Five initial steps were requested by the Director, including:Install Security Guards at Regional Plants;Develop Security Master Plan (in-process);Establish Security Baseline; and,Provide Basic Security Requirements - low costmeasures. The objectives were to:instill greater security at PCRWRD facilities usinglow cost methods;develop PCRWRD security culturechange through competition, training, and random security checks; enhance security awareness and practices;establish a security baseline; and, developtangible, measured security statistics. The security assessment approach and results are presented, along with 2008 security recommendations. Improvements include:automated main entrance gates with proximitycard readers;investigators escorted while on-site;employees wearing ID badges;employees locking out computers when notpresent; and,employees are aware of contacts for reportingincidents.
