This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of succession planning at AWWA's Connecticut Section (CTAWWA) that includes a working relationshipwith Town Tech Education PartnershipProgram, developed in the early1990s to give high school students reallife projects in partnership with towngovernment. The CTAWWA education committee partnered withthe Town of Portland Town Tech EducationalPartnership Program, Portland High School,Gateway Community College and State of CTDPH to develop a high school curriculum that wouldbring awareness to careers with the waterindustry. The goal of the program was to offer the class to juniors and seniors, making them eligible to sit for theState of Connecticut operator in training exam orcontinue on the Gateway curriculum withadvanced credits. At the very least, it will bringexposure to careers in the water industry to thehigh school student population. Funding for the "Water and People" class is presented, along with the memorandum of understanding (MOU) and course curriculum.
