Full Description

This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of Long Beach Water Department's (LBWD's) desalination research program. Project objective was to compare NF2 and SWRO (single and two-pass) side-by-side under the following guidelines: efficiency (recovery, energy usage); reliability (minimize down time); and, water quality. Also, optimize NF2 operations. Research methodology included the following: Phase I - short tests for NF2 and SWRO to determine trends, conductivity as WQ criterion, and May '06 - Dec '07 timeframe; Phase II - 2+ weeks of selected conditions from Phase I, detailed WQ analyses, and Jan '08 - Oct '08 timeframe; operate with ER device - energy results from power monitors and calculations. Operational parameters are given for flux, recovery, and temperature. Includes figures.
