This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the Hyperion Treatment Plant. Work schedule issues included:too many vacancies;recruitment problem due to shortage of certified operatorsnationwide;too many weekdays off rather than the preferred weekend off; and,"over-utilization" of relief operators to cover vacancies. The labor management process is outlined, along with Hyperion Operations Scheduling Alternative Study (HOSAS) discussions, and the advantages of the new scheduleversus the old schedule. Success of the HOSAS (Hyperion OperationsScheduling Alternative Study) Team included the following:identifying the main problem at theoutset;solution structures have clear objectives;members of management and labor have thekey players; actual data was used in the discussion;all members of the team were willing to meethalfway to achieve a common goal withdeveloped trust and honesty.
