Full Description

This paper presents an analysis of feasible stabilization alternatives from a case study of a brackish groundwater system in central Arizona. The facility treats abnormally warm groundwater containing low levels of calcium, alkalinity and moderate levels of total dissolved solids, arsenic and fluoride. Due to the levels of fluoride in the source water, only a small fraction can be blended through a split stream before the fluoride level exceeds the product water target. Very little calcium hardness and alkalinity is introduced into the product stream and the product water stabilization process requires calcium and alkalinity addition. This paper presents a case study on the screening of alternatives and selection of a product water stabilization system for a small, remote groundwater desalting facility. Includes 24 references, tables, figures.
