Full Description

This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of concerns of incorrect free chlorine test results that included free chlorine measurement techniques. Test compensation strategies are presented, along with contributing factors forcing change and increased testing requirements. The Indophenol method for free chlorine measurement is presented, including chloramine interference, manganese interference, groundwater study, distribution system study, manganese and breakpoint chlorination, and additional free chlorine applications. Presentation conclusions indicate that: the Indophenol method determines free chlorine concentrations without theneed to compensate for interferences in most standard techniques;allows easy observation of free chlorine levels; itallows better characterization of a water matrix to a level not easilyattainable before; and, itallows better treatment decisions based on improveddata. Includes tables, figures.
