This powerpoint presentation begins by providing study objectives that included: evaluation of experimental conditions and reproducibilitywhen conducting pathogen transport investigations;assessment of the concurrent effects between parametersthat impact pathogen transport in porous media; and,investigation of the surface characteristics and size ofparticles and the effects on transport outcomes. Parameter values for the factorial design mechanistic study are presented, along with experimental conditions for column studies, colloid and pathogen analysis, and experimental apparatus. Conclusions indicate that: for the bromide tracer teststhere was no observable difference between two uniformitycoefficient values, and observed results are attributable tofactors studied rather than experimental errors eg.column packing; excellent repeatability in breakthrough curvesobtained between duplicate columns and repeatedexperiments; factorial design permits us to compare the concurrenteffects, not only for physicochemical parameters of themedia/matrix, but also between different colloids; increased ionic strength results in higher levels of removalin porous media; and, impacts of grain size and uniformity coefficient areconfounded with the effects of other parameters.
