This standard describes sulfur dioxide, a compressed, nonflammable liquefied gas, for use in the treatment of potable water, wastewater, or reclaimed water to remove excess residual chlorine. Major revisions made to the standard in this edition include the following: inclusion of the use of this material for wastewater and reclaimed water as well as definitions of these terms (Secs. 1 and 3).
